Sound dampening a rooster run.

We ordered a dozen pullets and wound up with a straight run. We have four roosters now. This was unexpected. Clearly there's a noise issue. Fortunately I was able to find a solution. These are noise dampening furniture moving blankets. They are weatherproof and machine washable and make all the difference in the world. We put them on the sides of the welded wire kennel run which face the neighbors and tested by standing between the neighbor's property and the run itself. They work beautifully. You would think that those roosters lived five houses down.

You still have 3 too many cockerels for the number of pullets.
Glad you have a noise solution for the one that gets to stay.

Not sure how close your neighbors are but unless you cover the whole thing it's not really going to work. There is a section you show that is not covered and sound travels.

Are you not allowed to have Roos?
And as dobielover says, you shou,d only have 1 Roo

Welcome to BYC.

That's a clever temporary solution, but over time those blankets will mold and attract vermin.

If you need sound insulation, dense vegetation appropriate to your climate between the coop and the neighbors would be a better option over the long-term. You can add your general location to your profile to help us give you better advice.

There are no neighbors on that side.

Easily replaced and machine washable.

Great innovation! Maybe it will help others be able to keep their roosters - thanks for sharing!
