Soupy Muddy coop Run Too much Rain ! Need Quick Fix !!

Sand! I also used washers and screws to attach clear vinyl shower curtains to the sides of our run that the weather hits bad. So it isn't all enclosed, and still has lots of airflow, but the wind and rain stay out for the most part. The shower curtains are thicker than the plastic sheeting found at home improvement stores and reusable since I put it up with screws/washers instead of staples, which would rip out at the first sign of wind.

Here is the side that gets most weather.

Inside sand run nice and dry!

That is a nice looking coop, how many do you have, we have over 40 plus 14 ducks.
Is that a scratch dirt bath box you have in your coop too. Like that ! I will give that a try and hope
works .:) thanks for the ideas.

I don't know if you were referring to my coop or the one posted before mine but I'll answer anyway! :)

I have a small coop/run with just enough room for our 5 hens since we are urban we are limited due to city ordinances. No dust bath in mine, other than the all sand floor (in both coop and run), which they do love to dust themselves in. What you see in front of the coop is actually a bare garden box. They get out to range in the garden and back yard most every day, too.

Sand is the best answer. We built the coop and run over a sand pad we had used for our above ground pool. Drains so nicely, dries fast, less smell. I rake the run to stir things up weekly and kitty litter scoop in the coop also put 2 containers under the roost to catch all the night time poo.

Farmgirlroots... whats the open sided, red barn like structure in your coop?

:0) Sandy

That's where their food and water hang from. I actually repurposed it from the tower portion of a kids play structure prior to deciding to put a roof over the entire run. My little coop is too small to put the food and water in so it had to be on the run.
