Sand! I also used washers and screws to attach clear vinyl shower curtains to the sides of our run that the weather hits bad. So it isn't all enclosed, and still has lots of airflow, but the wind and rain stay out for the most part. The shower curtains are thicker than the plastic sheeting found at home improvement stores and reusable since I put it up with screws/washers instead of staples, which would rip out at the first sign of wind.
