My chicken was found on the floor with sour crop. I vomited her and she's acting find now. I've given her ACV, probiotics, yogurt and her crop is soft but in the morning it feels like there is a small bit of sand in it, is this normal?

This chicken had sour crop before and her crop has never been completely "flat" in the morning. She has diarrhea almost all the time so between the crop and diarrhea something is wrong. She's 3 years old. If anyone has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it.

Have you treated her with an anti-yeast med? It's worth a try. You can get miconazole where they shelve women's hygiene products.

Vomiting a sour crop victim is dangerous. If any fluid is sucked into the airway, it can kill immediately or cause pneumonia it it gets into the lungs. I don't recommend it.

If this is a chronic condition, and it doesn't clear up with miconazole, it's possible your hen has a serious illness such as cancer that has pretty much shut down her immune system.

Azygous, thank you for the reply. As far as vomiting her, when I picked her up it was basically pouring out of her beak, so I helped her finish it...very carefully. Something small and stringy looking came out but I have no clue what it could have been since she is in an enclosed run? I haven't tried the yeast yet as I'm not sure how to administer it? Also, do you do egg withdrawal once you do this and if so, for how long? Appreciate the help!
