I have a Speckled Sussex that had a very enlarged crop and was doing the odd head shaking thing. Her crop was soft and she did have a bad smell to her breath.
When I picked her up a little stinky fluid came up.
After some online research I decided not to turn her over to expel the fluid because of fear of aspiration.
She has been in a wire crate in the coop for three days not eating yogurt and drinking water with a mix of pro-bitotic smoothie.
The crop has gone down but still is a little enlarged and soft. She does not appear uncomfortable and is not shaking her head.
I don't see much bowel movements.
When do you think I should introduce food to her? I'm afraid to fill her up with food only to have it ferment.
Please advise!
