Hey!

My hen has been to the vet because of sour crop. She is retching a lot these days, and there has been some vomiting.
She has been taking this medicine for 11 days: https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailym...2797-d8a4-4a67-919c-ef2c4eca7b7e&type=display
(Itrafungol). The crop is feeling better, but her breath still smells sour/yeast. She is going to take this medicine for another 2-3 days. The vet says the retching might be a side effect of the Itrafungol. She did retch and vomit before she started on the medicine also, but it got worse after starting on the medicine.

Do any of you have any experience with Itrafungol used on hens for sour crop? Did the hen get well? Did your hen have any side effects?
I am worried that she might not get well..

The medicine is used for fungal infection of the skin (ringworm) in cats. There are other antifungal medicines to use to treat ceop problems that include Nystatin that your vet could prescribe. Medistatin is the same medicine that is available online for pigeons. Has the crop emptied? Sour crop is sometimes very hard to treat with a permanent cure. The times I have seen it was in my older hens with reproductive problems or cancer.
