Sour crop liquid...in my eye?

Okay, a strange problem I admit, but essentially I have a very sick chicken with sour crop (potentially some other issues too, but the sour crop is the most noticeable). She was trying to regurgitate the brown liquid, so I helped her empty her crop. The crop vomit went everywhere, all over my hair, my clothes...and in my eye. Is this dangerous (for me)?

Yuck! That is really gross, sorry. I don't know is dangerous that is. I wouldn't be too worried but I've never had that issue thankfully. I have unfortunately ingested a lot of nasty bird stuff and never had any bad affects, I think I'm part bird by now. I hope your chicken gets better!

I am not a epidemiologist however from personal experience of having all types of bodily fluids(yeasty sour crop included) from chickens sprayed in my mouth and eyes, I don't think you are at risk of getting sick. Most microbes don't cross from animal to human all that easily. You would have to have consumed a lot more to get sick. I have worried about this too after having been spit on, I have even stuck myself with a needle that was just inside a sick bird, using it to drain a bird's belly with Ascites! And I am still here to tell this story. I think you will be fine. If this happens again, you might rinse with alcohol or peroxide just in case!
