Sour crop week 3 now!

Is it time to get a vet involved? I did everything I was susposed to.... No food 24hrs organic ACV plain yogurt..... He was getting better so we put him back in with the others.... now we're back to square 1! What now?

Since its three weeks and you haven't gotten it under control I'd take to the veterinarian--if you have one that does chickens. Anything in the environment that he is eating when put back with the others that could be the cause? Is his crop too stretched out so food ferments in there? Could the gizzard be impacted? I would be panic stricken over the weight loss alone!

If your chicken is pooping, some food is getting through. It would seem that this is the case or it wouldn't have survived for 3 weeks with no food. You may want to try Nystatin which is for yeast. Since it's not a totally blocked crop, Nystatin may work. You may be able to get it at First State Veterinary Supply run by Peter Brown. 410-546-6137
