My 22 week old BA pullet started acting off yesterday, she was up on a roosting post during the day and was letting me pet her (both of which she never lets me do), I thought maybe she was trying to lay her first egg so I put her in a nesting box where she stayed for 7 hours. I felt around her vent and abdomen and never really felt an egg so now I'm trying to figure out what else could be wrong! Her comb is still bright red, she is still drinking, and looking pretty healthy overall but her crop feels a bit swollen and squishy and she is sluggish. Does this sound like sour crop or any other ideas on what this could be?? I'm fairly new at this!

Should she be ok until tomorrow? She seems really sleepy but that could be because I had her separated last night but she keeps closing her eyes/falling asleep while standing.

So I checked her crop this morning and her crop was slightly swollen and felt a little almost gassy I guess? But it wasn't very large at all, does this still sound like sour crop?

I had a chicken (Paul, a 3 year old Black Australorp) that developed first an impacted crop, and then a sour crop. My fix for everything? APPLECIDER VINEGAR. Diluted with water, the vinegar works magic. It softened the impaction. When the crop contents became sour and squishy, I mixed together ACV, honey, and plain whole milk yogurt and syringe fed her twice a day (morning/night). I did not make her vomit because I felt bad Haha. The best part of this is that even if it is not a crop problem, the acv, honey, and yogurt will give her a little boost. This is what worked for me!
