Update: Because of Covid, you can't be in with your animals. The vet said she lightly sedated her and put a catheter into her crop and drained a lot of dark fluid out. Catheters have small openings in them so any large piece of something couldn't be pulled into it. She said she didn't see anything in the fluid. I was given liquid AmoxClav and instructed to give her 7cc twice a day. So total was $340. with no xrays. She said to give her her regular laying pellets mixed with warm water. We got home around 6. I fixed up the dog crate for her, it's large, 3'x4'x3'. I put a wooden box in there from the coop, filled with straw, and that will be comfortable and familiar for her. Plenty of room. I watched her constantly and she rested and slept but didn't try to eat or drink. She was awake in the morning but not interested in food or water so I held her and fed her water with a syringe along the side of her beak. It had a tiny amount of organic vinegar with probiotic mother in it, about 1/4 tsp to 1/2 cup water. She liked that. I gave her the liquid antibiotic along her beak edge and she ate that, but definitely not 7 cc's. She was standing and pacing and resting and looked uncomfortable. Then she started eating a little. I put some low-sugar greek yogurt in a dish which she took a few bites of. I made organic quinoa and she ate almost all of it. Today she's chirping and walking and eating everything in sight. I am so excited to see her recover like this. I'm cautiously optimistic. Hopefully, we're over the hump. She'll stay in the Chicken Hilton for a couple more days, I think. This is a nasty problem and has a high fatality rate. The vet said there's often an underlying problem like GI or reproductive tract cancer.
