Hey again,

So my brother, my mom, and I were out in our garden walking around when I noticed one of our White Leghorn hens (Cottonelle) was standing by herself and all bowed up with her tail sticking down. My brother went to see what was wrong with her and when he picked her up (after a small struggle), a yellowish liquid came out of her mouth. He brought her out of the coop to us, and when he felt her coop, Yall when it moved, it sounded like a legitimate half-filled water balloon. We got some more liquid to come out of her crop (and there was some like grass seed and some other translucent green stuff that might have been grass), and then we put her in a small pen by herself without food or water. Oh, and the liquid that came out of her mouth stank according to my brother.

Does this sound like sour crop to yall?

It might be sour crop.

Re-check her crop first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat or drink to see if it's empty or flat. This is the best way to gauge whether there's a problem or not.
Picking up a bird during the day when they have been eating/drinking and pressing the crop, you likely will be able to feel food/water and press materials out, chickens don't have a gag reflex.

Never withhold water during waking hours.
Do you provide grit for your hens?

IF her crop is not empty/flat in the morning then read the article below and begin treatment.

Today (4/18), she is better. Yesterday she didn't lay an egg but today she did. Also, her crop is better. Now it holds food and water normally and it doesn't smell bad anymore. She is acting normal and back with her two WL sisters and the rest of the flock. :yesss:
