Hi
My chicken (4 years old) has a case of sour crop. I have given her yeast medication for two days now, and kept her isolated. We are on day #3 and each day I pick her up, gently touch her crop and she throws up. The crop empties, but the next day it is full again. I have been giving her oats with yogurt and probiotics Today I gave her a boiled egg. she is eating, but not much. Question: has anyone ever experienced this where by the crop continues to get full and not empty on it's own. Any suggestions on what I do for her now. Once I get the crop empty again, what should I be doing?

yes first thing in the AM. She is not eating much but she is drinking and it is squishy and as soon as I pick her up. it just comes running out of her mouth.

What breed is she?
Keep up with the yeast medication (Miconazole, I assume?) and don't stop for the full 7 days. A crop that keeps clogging could mean another organ down the line is not working properly. Any signs of reproductive issues (yellow poop, water belly, soft-shelled eggs)? When was the last time she laid an egg?

Shes better today I got the Miconazole 3 day application: 4 mil. Do you think that is enough or should I keep it up for another 3 day application? Her poop looks fine, she doesn't seem to have water belly, She is a red sex linked, and not sure when the last time she laid an egg. I have 70 chickens right now and she one of my original flock of 25 so.... just keeping her alive is the priority. I have a lot that don't lay eggs. Let me know if you think I should complete another round of the yeast med.

Yes, Miconazole 4% should be given for 7 consecutive days. About 1/4 inch of the suppository or 1/2 inch of vaginal cream orally twice daily.

Where do you apply the cream?
For sour crop the cream is administered orally. Squeeze out the cream onto your finger, open the chicken's beak, then put the cream into their mouth and they will swallow it.
