Sour/Impacted Crop *Newbie Here*

I know for sure two things: her vomiting is trying to empty it---and you are going to have to induce it manually. second, she is going to need treated with a yeast infection medication. if you do that, she's got a very good chance for recovery, from what I understand.

"Hold her upside down with her head away from you and massage from the bottom to the top of the crop so the liquid is released. After this you can feed her layers pellets mixed with natural yogurt and apple cider vinegar in her water. Repeat this every day until her crop returns to normal, and if it persists for more than a week take her to the vet for anti-fungal medicine. To avoid further problems make sure there is a supply of grit always available. Good luck!" https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/613861/how-to-treat-sour-crop

It should just come pouring out of her. The upsidedown part is important so she doesn't aspirate and breath any of the liquid.

This is her

I saw this. None really looked like hers except maybe a mix of healthy and watery. I'm assuming that to be a good sign.

I think that's def a good sign. Esp that she is showing interest in food and water too. My prob was I didn't have enough grit available to them, and my run is full of grass and chicken-treat plants and he is a piggy roo who tends to gorge, so he (I assume) impacted himself.

Our run is full of grass and I have a feeling she wasn't getting grit while we were gone (just got back Sunday). So fingers crossed.

I am new here. Think this might be an issue with one of my 2 month rhode island red. She twitches her neck alot. Her crop?? Feels like a balloon empty though. Its soft. I bought this stuff at the feed store they told me to try. Im a little hesitant to use it.

I thought it was the air sac disease.

Can you buy antibiotics or antifungal at tractor supply etc, or is it something a vet has to give you?

Call your tractor supply and ask if they have any antifungal for poultry there. I know the one link I sent you used actual monostat like for human yeast infections from the drug store. The gal posting went into detail about how she dosed it up. I'd use the over the counter stuff if you can't find anything else, as she is going to need something. I know that certain vet offices will also let you purchase medicine without a visit, so it wouldn't hurt to call either.

Is she eating/drinking? What does her poop look like. How about any grit/scratch----my mistake was I didn't have enough of that. Other than the twitching, is she showing any signs of distress?

Shes eating and drinking normally. He poop looks like the others as far as Ive seen.shes not twitching g as much as she was at first but her chest is very bubbled out.
She asks normal. She does seem smaller than the other reds, but she was the smallest when we got her.
I will look at my tractor supply. Thank you for all the info!
