Does anyone know a good source for chickens in or around southeastern Pennsylvania? Looking online, the best I have found is Moyer's Chicks, which only offers one layer breed, which they call "Brown Egg Layer" and sdescribe as "a hybrid cross between a White Rock egg-layer type female and a Rhode Island Red male." I guess that would be OK, but I was hoping to find someplace that has a wider selection. There appear to be many online sources, but (a) they all have minimum order quantity which is more than I want, and (b) I am hoping to find started pullets to avaoid the whole chick-raising business. I know there must be local sources within an hour of here, but have not pinned them down yet. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

You might ask this in the PA thread of the "Where am I? Where are you?" forum. That has local people. Also, watch Craigslist Farm and Garden section. Finally, I might have some extra chicks or started chickens next year in the Philly area.

Pennsylvania!! Unite!

That's the BYC thread for many of us PA residents. Depending on where you are located, there are quite a few of us in the southeastern part of the state.

Many of us hatch, so there are often many different breeds of young available, of course not everything is available all year round.

I produce Black and Blue Copper Marans, standard size Black and Blue Cochins, and BBR Phoenix.

I know there are others that produce egg production breeds and Ameracaunas, Brahmas, Orpingtons, and many bantam breeds.

Just depends what you are looking for.

Hope this helps you
