I just had a Barred rock hen go broody, I know its early, she just re-started laying last week. We don't have a rooster so it will be to no avail. She is a good hen, we had good success with a Wellsummer hen hatching pheasants last year. This is this hens second year so I think she will be committed. I however need some fertile eggs for her fast before she looses interest. All of the ringnecks hatched last year flew to coup at around 8 weeks, we free range them, so they do what is natural, and we still see at least 3 of them now, so IMO this is not a bad idea for a few semi-wild birds around. Sources would be appreciated. I have had poor results with eggs shipped so reliable breeders would be appreciated.

Welcome to BYC. Shipped eggs are generally a 'crap shoot' so you would do best with locally sourced eggs. Can you use the same source you used last year ?
