Sourdough starter? How do you make it?

I have used that starter for an Amish friendship bread, where you use a vanilla pudding in the recipe. So is that starter the same for sour dough?
I would love to try to make sour dough rolls.
My DH would be in heaven.

The King Arthur Flour Co. site has some great recipes for starters. The ciabatta recipe is the best I've ever used. I often use potato water with the flour to make a starter. The pan de campagne yeast is great. Adds the right "tang" to the bread.

Oh my goodness, my starter took off like crazy last night. I definately have to get a bigger jar. I think it doubled in size.

I was wondering because it didn't do anything, then this morning I came downstairs and it had come alive.

After I stirred it, it was a bit smaller, so hopefully it stays containd until I go to a store closer to the weekend.

Yes. It is growing. Feed it every 5 days and use it to make wonderful things. Dough starter is a living food.
