We had an interesting fly strip experience once. Also quite funny, though I wasn't laughing at the time. We put the used strips in the bin, put the bag out... I had 2 chicks running around that I was raising and they somehow discovered the fly strip. Yum, sticky flies

One day we're sitting watching TV when we heard a chick scream. Not a nice sound! We have two doors leading outside, almost opposite each other and my DH and I each ran for a door, very nearly into each other! While we were trying to side-step each other the chick came storming inside, still screaming, with his sibling following close behind, looking worried. The screamer somehow managed to get the fly strip stuck under his wing and panicked when he couldn't get it off.

Nearly gave me a bleeding heart attack!
Needless to say we were careful disposing of the strips after that incident!

I often put fly strips up in the rabbitry; they are most effective hung no more than waist height in there. At one time, I had some young chickens that were loose on the floor. Two of the young birds were Silkie cockerels. One day, while I watched, the boys got into a sparring match. As one bird leapt up to launch an attack on the other, he connected with one of the dangling fly strips. He stuck to it. Fight over! There's nothing like winding up hanging from a sticky tape to wreck a guy's macho image! I rescued him before he got even more tangled, but he lost a few feathers and gained a few sticky flies in the process.
 
DH just reminded me of the day we caught a Rasta on the fly strip.
He used to have this rasta buddy who'd come round our place quite often. Really got on my nerves with all his exaggerated rasta talks the stuff that comes with smoking too much pot. (We don't smoke pot, I hate it). Anyway,he's got long dreads that he's terribly proud off. (I'm absolutely dying to shave them off. He'd look so much better without them) One day he was in our kitchen, which was on the small side and I can't remember exactly what happened, but he took a step too far and met the flystrip, which we'd hung near the sides of the room. He stepped forward and his dreads were suspended mid-air, stuck to the sticky strip. I took on look at him with his dreads all up in the air like he'd stepped on a life wire or something, complete with the matching facial expression, and burst out laughing. He freaked, which made me laugh even more. It took him awhile to forgive me and after that day he refused to come into our house when we had strips up.

. Saw a guy the other day, he had dreads folded double and still hanging all the way down to his calves. Must've been growing them from birth. Imagine keeping that clean! I'll pass.
