Sourland in trouble

Sour, I think you should stay away from snakes. Real or otherwise

Love your stories though...

Did I ever tell you the one about the gigantic green snake coming out of the little Saltine box? Scarey! Or the time that I stood on a copperhead bare footed and bare legged? Really scarey - ended up 50 foot away from that snake and don't know how that happened? Guardian angel?

Tell me. I like your stories.

I don't have any interesting snake stories myself. Only spider ones... Redhen?

. . . . Or the time that I stood on a copperhead bare footed and bare legged? Really scarey - ended up 50 foot away from that snake and don't know how that happened? Guardian angel?
A friend of mine had a similar experience. He raised miniature roses, and had some goats that kept getting into his greenhouse and trashing his plants (goats loooove to eat roses!). He was standing near the goat pen, surveying the fence line to make sure it was secure, when he felt something hit him on the leg - repeatedly. He looked down, and realized he was standing on the head of a roughly 3 foot long copperhead (it was the snake's tail that was hitting him). Like you, he cleared out, and swears that his feet didn't hit the ground before he was back in the greenhouse. He got rid of the goats after that.

His story is a near duplicate of mine. I was peering into some old beehives up on theSourland Mts. I heard a tapping sound, looked down and saw a copperhead with it's head poised inches from my calf and it's tail tapping on the ground. I have no clue as to why it did not bite me. Next thing I realized, I was 50 foot away standing on an old woods road. I think that some force other than my own volition moved me there.

Yeah, I do have a history with snakes and also with guardian angels.

You talking about snakes and guardian angels reminded me of a story I saw on TV recently (It's a Miracle - don't know if you know the programme). Anyway, this kid got bitten by a rattlesnake (I think). He remembers being unable to walk, vaguely remembers a man picking him up and carrying him home and laying him down on their back porch, from where he crawled into the kitchen where his mom found him. From his description and the man's behaviour (not knocking on the door or entering the house or doing anything a "normal" person would do) it sounded like a guardian angel.
Could well be you had a similar experience.

On a lighter note. DH used to stay with a friend who often had up to 15 people sharing his house. Friend loves snakes and used to rescue whatever snakes people found in their houses etc. What he'd then do is bring snake home and put it in the fridge to sedate it before taking it into the mountains to release it. DH said they often opened the (shared) fridge to find a snake chilling in there. Guess thats one way to make sure on-one steals your beer!

I vaugely remember a story my mom told me about what I had done as a child no more than 3-4yo.
Sour you'll LOVE this!!!

So one day mom and dad were out in the yard, dad mowing and mom tending her roses. I woke from a nap and wondered outside. I don't remember everything but I do remember this part!
I went around the side of the house (where noone was) and picked up a 2' copperhead! I didn't know what it was but I took it to my mom to show her my new pet! SHE SKREEMD BLOODY MURDER!!! Lol then dad and a few uncles took my new found friend and proceeded to breat the living crap out of it with shovels and garden hoes. I remember showing my sister a stepping stone that I saw a snake go under before that. That may be the snake that I found but I'm not sure. Since then I have dispatched countless copperheads and rattlers in my yard. Funny thing after Rita a buddy and I found an old neighborhood that was condemed after a previous storm. We went walking the deserted streets and came across a 20" what we thought was a milk snake.it wasn't!
We then picked up said snake and took it home to my buddys mom. We got our faces slapped and then looked up the coral snake online. Yea my lives are # now. Lol 2 moms 2 potentially deadly snakes! One dumb guy laffin his FAO!!!

Tell us some more stories. Sour, Spook? BTW, read most of this thread to my DH yesterday, Spook, he cannot believe you're still married

Your wife sounds fun though.

When the Princess and I were dating, I kept her away from my family for a myriad of reasons. Once we were engaged my Mom wanted to take her to pick out a wedding present. So I brought the 'city girl' out to our house. Showed her my two pens of beagles and could tell that she was somewhat fearful, so to help her get over her fears - I went up to Gus the goose and his mate and snatched one of their goslings. As I ran towards the Princess gosling in hand, followed by two honking parents the Princess chose the lesser of two evils and jumped in with the dogs. First fear solved.

To say that the Princess used to be a picky eater would be an understatement so to help her I told what my mother was making for supper - rabbit. We managed to get through supper with no vomiting. Next day as they shopped, the Princess said, "Mrs. Wallace I have to admit that the rabbit we ate last night was not bad at all." My mother said, "Did that boy tell you we were eating rabbit? It was roast beef, honey, and you can't believe a word that boy says."

She entered into this relationship fully forewarned. Ain't love grand?
