Hi!
CSRA (Central Savannah River Area).
I'm in Aiken ---- almost on the Georgia line so I'm nearer lots of folks in GA than the Carolinas.

Holler if you're here!

I'm in Charleston (actually, West of the Ashley, to be precise!). DH and I are thinking of adding chickens to the family this Spring. I look forward to posting with you.
PS: Rosey - where do you go for chicks/supplies? I was thinking Corday's on John's Island?

I am in Sumter. Brand new here.

I used to keep RIR years ago for eggs and some Old English Bantams for pets.

Just two weeks ago I got back into it again and now have a small variety of good egg-layers. I am so excited to have chickens again.

Today DH started building my coop for me. We should have it ready by the end of the week.

We have Rhode Island Reds, Silver Spangled Hamburgs, Barred Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Araucanas, and one
"Rare Breed" chick (yet to be determined). I am going to have to cull out over half of them but it is going to be hard to choose.

I only have experience with the RIR as far as egg production goes - can any one tell me about the others?

I'm in North Augusta, SC. I've got 15 chicks about a month old, as of 4/13/07:
4 RI Red pullets
4 Americauna pullets
2 Barred Rock pullets
2 Black Sex-Link pullets
3 bantams - one solid white, one light brown, one black, fuzzy-footed frizzled(maybe a little rooster).

These will be pampered pet chickens for producing eggs and garden fertilizer. Although it will be a while before they produce eggs, they have already mastered the production of fertilizer and being pet chickens.

I am now busy building chicken tractors.

Hey guys! I'm from Spartanburg. I also spend alot of time in Waterloo, sc and have stayed at Lake Aire Campground for a while in Hollywood!

Hello All

I live near Waterloo, SC. That's near Lake Greenwood which is near Greenwood which is kinda close to McCormick which is not too far from Aiken which is...

Anyway, I'm new to this chicken business. So far I've got 30 Black Sex-links (15 pullets, 15 cockrels). My whole litter of chicks survived and are very healthy and well adjusted.

I plan to butcher a couple of cockrels next week. If I can do it and my family doesn't dessert me on processing day, I hope to start a new batch of broilers.

Nice to know there are folks near by.

Win
