Hey Amy.............

............. you think.................

....... maybe after the holidays I can bring some roosters your way and you can do with whatever????

I have to get rid of them SOON...... I actually have no attachment to them cause they really have nothing to do with me(chicken raised) and now they are getting a little hormonal and ALL are crowing!!!!!!

You seem to be getting this in cycles. Maybe you should look toward bad food or poisoning.
Is it when you have the bags of food for a while. If you put it in a bucket is the bucket food safe. Maybe it is sitting in there a while and the "poisons" are leaking into it. Something maybe you only feed once in a while. Aluminum foil around? That can be toxic. Copper?
Just some ideas.

My food is in my garage on carpetEd floor in their original bags. Nothing toxic nearby. I've had birds for years prior to chickens. I even have 11 chicks on my garage right now. They are fine, but then again they have not been exposed to the rest of my flock yet. And never touched grass my newest ones.

My 9 large ones out back have had cocci issues. At one time I had 17 birds in that flock. I sold 4, then had the rest die and now have 9. Most would lose weight around their keel bone, grow weak, then in their final days some seem to lose weight in their cheeks. I also had 2 chicks from a local feed store who were afflicted bad with cocci. They were extremely stunted and never grew. One made it to about 16 weeks and looked half it's age. It was sad. I have one bird I got from the same place here in town back in April and he's probably my healthiest bird in that flock. He's a rir mix.

No respiratory issues though besides a pheasant. I dunno. I put so much money into them and my birds get sick.

At least...I have a bouncy happy bunny who runs my house! Zippity spends his days loose in the evenings. He will run room to room with my cat Tacoma and he comes when I shake his treats. He's precious!!

You probably brought the cocci home with the feed store chicks if you put them in with the other birds. Now it's in the chicken pen, the dirt, the coop etc. It sounds like your birds are still fighting it, even if it's off and on. Sick birds don't lay eggs. Sorry you're having such a hard time. I have no idea what to tell you to do about it. I would start with Oxine - spray it everywhere. Even mist the birds with it. Put it in the drinkers. Spray down the coop, roosts, dirt etc. Maybe do that weekly for a while. Unless you can treat the birds and then move them to new ground. I'm just throwing out ideas .....

Sure, Yancy. I have no problem with that. Just let me know when. The fellas have had a good life so far. they won't care if they live another 10 days or 10 years. I feel God put them here for a reason.

Why did I get chicks from the feed store!!! Argh!!!

Okay, well this is my plan for this weekend. Get off my arse. Then rake the rest of the coop. Then disinfect with ammonia. Then keep the birds medicated for about 2 weeks...
