South Carolina

Ok so I live in an extremely rural area(between Cross Hill and Chappells)...in a lakeside area that has very very few winter residents and SANTA just stopped in my driveway with the local volunteer fire dept!!! He use to come every year but hasnt in the last few!!

HOW AWSOME IS THAT!!

And my DHs family just doesnt understand why we live soooo far out from the real world!! LOL

Great pics! I think Guineas are such fabulously cool-looking birds! I'd have a flock of them here, but I can't stand the noises they make.

Since becoming a BYC'er I hardly ever go on FB but ya'll got me curious so I went on and replied to some posts just to antagonize...nooo I wouldn't do something like that!

LOL I read all that this morning on the FB page and was like"You go, girl!" You see I had to respond. But obviously they ain't none too bright on there because they have no idea that Clemson is not the chicken police! That shows you how ignorant some "gamebird" owners are. I hesitate to say the other word as it causes problems here on BYC. I do love the little gamebirds but not some of the owners. These people are not smart enough to really know the laws that are written in SC. I posted the link so they could read it for themselves but it looks like they did not do it.

Geez! My hands are so cold I can barely type! And I am tickled by what Patsy wrote.

Thanks Amy...I was hoping I didn't come off as loony as them... and thatks greatly for providing them the link I couldn't find but I doubt they can read...LOL

DD decided she wanted a puppy for Christmas! I guess it is a good thing we are so broke and she knows it. She wanted a Jack Russell that someone had but I told her not with my chickens. we love the breed but it would not work on the farm. Now she has moved on to a Pug or a Puggle. I would love to have a Puggle but we can't find any around us We may go to the shelter this week and see what they have to offer. She will know it when she sees it and I have to give the okay on the breed and size.
I keep telling her the Guinea Pigs are a lot like a puppy but she isn't buying that!

We used to foster a lot of puppies around the holidays when I worked at the vet clinic (we had a big boarding facility with the clinic that I managed, as well) because people didn't want their puppies kept in the kennel. She learned a lot about their care and for years said she did not want one but I suppose now she feels mature enough to handle a youngster and all it entails. Puppies at Christmas were part of her upbringing and now she is below 50 guinea Pigs I think she is missing a lot of the work because puppies can sure be some work!

A puppy sounds perfect!

I can't wait until mine are that old. Right now they are still pale and need to mature enough to get that nice blue color. And I am still having to look hard to tell the coral blues from the lavs. I am sure next spring they will all get their mature feathers and my corals will look as pretty as yours!

My Silkie guard dog. They are becoming good friends since the silkies drop poo snacks under the pen.

When I have baby chicks in the house, he will not let anyone except us near his babies.
