Amy I am so glad to hear your guineas are taking care of the fire ants. That and ticks are the main reason we got into Chickens and guineas. I really hope we can put a hurting on those insects.

So far our Guineas free range and put themselves to bed in the chicken coop. We only have 1 rooster and many male guineas. I only see the guineas going after the other male guineas. I sure hope they will be nice to roo roo. HE is a beautiful guy, Partridge wyandotte. He gets preference treatment. So the guineas will be kicked outside if they pick on him.

Cherkeerose, are you looking to put a place on the market or looking for a place to rent/buy. I remember your first post that you were moving here?

Go to www.realtor.com and put in Denmark, sc.i tried it and it brought up about 15 houses for sale. If nothing else, it will give you the name of some realtors in the area to contact about rentals. At least it should give you a good starting point.

Bought the girls some Rockin Rooster scratch feed today. You would have thought it was manna from Heaven. It was so funny to see them go search for what had just been tossed into the run and then start gobbling it up once they did. We also picked up some of the Southern States layer crumbles since they were almost out. Will be interesting to see how long 50 lbs last the seven chickens this time around.

Hope everyone is do well! I have not had much time to spend here this week--DH is home. Hope to catch up and talk to everyone more next week!

John, if you are around--my 2 dominiques are doing very well and my other 10 eggs I got from Eugene have 4 developing in them. Hopefully I will get at least 2 from them. Still not sure what I have in the first 2 chicks but they have very little barring at the moment and look rather dark so I am hoping for hens! Have you tracked down any eggs yet? Hope we both get a little flock going soon! Are your Delaware laying??? I still have Delaware on my wish list for the future. Maybe look for some eggs in February.
