Well I had my first egg bound hen that I know of--it was one of my Marans, That poor girl laid around for the last 2 day trying to push that egg out. I let all of the Marans out today to run in the yard and she came out and laid in the sun for a while with her eyes close. If my DD was not so wound up the last two days and into everything I would have tried the warm bath for her but thank goodness the warm sun helped. I went back to check on her and there was a pale chocolate eggs sitting on the ground and she was up and looking around for something to eat. She still seems a little slow this evening but eating and walking around-- I so hope this is over and she does not develop any infection. Does anyone know if she will be prone to this again?
Amy, are you selling Blue Marans eggs? I will have to PM you. I started the incubator up today with some EE eggs from DH's uncle and I my own EE egg creation of a cross with my Ameraucana rooster and my 2 Marans hens. I did not really want to hatch their pullet eggs but they are so pretty I decide to put them in there. I also put a tray of Silkies and Black OEGBs though some are getting a little old. I love the sound of that little alarm every hour on that incubator(when the trays turn)!
