I don't know anything about ducks but turkeys have to be tested differently than chickens. A sample has to be sent in and tested by the state lab. I believe there is a charge for that.

So far he's been really good for me. He lets me hold him without any trouble. He did get loose from me in the barn tonight after I took this picture. I had to chase him around a little but once I got my hands back on him he was fine. I really like him a lot so far. Hopefully he'll continue to let me handle him a lot.
SO CUTE, is he sweet?

Ah ok! My ducks are kept completely separate from the chickens..but good info to know!

I spoke with her quite awhile & was trying to take it all in.... IF I understood correctly, ducks carry one of those things they test for, and can cause the chickens to test positive.

When that happens, they then take blood and send it off to have it tested again to see if it the birds are actually infected or not.

Sorry in advance...I know this is a chicken site and I have really been about the goats the last 2 days but I VALUE all of ya'lls opinion over any one else ! Last night Momma goat left the babies against the fence in a spot together alone all night and she slept in her little barn...I worked today and when I got home Mom was out in the garden and the babies were together UNDER her barn(2x6 skid).I couldnt find them and panicked! When I found them I pulled the boy out and when he started whining mom called him and sister came right out...they nursed just a min and played like crazy...nursed some more, played and I saw both pee(sorry). Just now when I went down sister was under the barn, mom was in the barn and brother was across about 25 feet away in the spot they were in last night. I picked them both up and put them in the barn..I am going to wait an hour and go see where they are.Is it normal for mom to leave them and let them separate or should I be very worried? I know that if they go downhill it will be fast and I am worried if I get called to work tomorrow if I will not see what is going on.I am getting a small digital scale tomorrow to weigh them by ounces (postal) so I can be sure they are gaining...they are so light but they are tiny and tonight was the first time I held them. They were spunky this afternoon,I put a video on my facebook...but I only spent about 20 mins out there as I had so much to catch up on with chicken chores before dark after working all day. It seems at dark they lay down for the night. They were laying everytime I went out last night(every 2-3 hours). Thanks yall(esp Kimberly) for your patience and input. They are very special to me already!
