I could tell you were talking about my situation. Thank you. I don't really talk to my neighbors here much and I like to keep it that way. They are just kind of ignorant people. I'd rather have as little contact with them (good or especially bad) as possible. If that means that I have to swallow the cost of the 2 hens and learn my lesson this time, then that is what I do. And meanwhile, I just become better prepared for next time, which hopefully there won't be.
Ummmm.....if that was witchy then I wonder what I was the other day.

I had two different neighbors dogs down here in my yard, chasing my cats and my ducks. One phone call to find out who the first dog belonged to and then a visit up the street. It took 3 days for the neighbors to get an invisible fence up and get the dog behind it. They didn't kill any of my birds but I made it very clear that if they did, I would be reimbursed for the cost of my hens which start at $15 each and go up depending on breed. The cats are pets, hard to put a dollar figure on that as it would break my sons heart. Most of my neighbors are great, and I was very diplomatic. Apparently I got my point across that I don't play when it comes to my animals. And my farm is a business and a loss in income hurts. I did explain that it takes 9 months to get those birds up and laying and chicken feed costs $15 a bag now and "you have no idea how many bags a bird can eat before they start to pay their own way".

In other words, it's much cheaper to buy a fence and keep your stupid dog at home. If those dogs had killed my birds, the least they would've done is pay me for my birds. And if she'd smiled at me while I was telling her that....oh that makes me so mad just thinking about it. Dang, the lady I was talking to was crying when I left. And I really was nice! My children were there with me, never raised my voice or used any bad language but I guess I got my point across. I wish I was closer, I'd come talk to your neighbor for you. (I know I've quoted the wrong post, so not Kimberly cause she doesn't need my help but Trixiebarracuda).
