All orpingtons no silkies in this hatch.

I did candle the Mary Robbin's buff eggs under my broody. 5 out of 8 are developing.
I have other colors of her eggs developing in my other bator.

I only had 2 buff eggs........I haven't candled any of mine. I did under the broody hens...I think I have 12 under them now.

Well, my second and last peacock died last night. I did a postmortem on the poor thing this morning and found he had a very nice clean liver(no blackhead). His Cecal were enlarged and full of a nasty white spongy substance. I am not sure if it was cocci or what. I have a question out to a man on the Peafowl thread trying to find out what went wrong. If it is cocci I will at least try again to get more peafowl at some point. That cocci stuff is horrible!

Samantha, on a funnier note--I think I have 2 cockerels and 1 pullet in my Dorking chicks. The one I took the band off of is one of the cockerels. Tell Patsy to look at the chests on her chicks that are my birds age. I think the males have a dark gray chest and the female seem to be getting reddish chests. The little males also have bigger combs and a little larger points on their combs. My OEGB BBreds color up real similar at about this age. I guess the man may have been right on which ones were roosters but maybe not totally on which ones were hens.

My new chicken area is coming along. I'm totally shocked by how handy my sweet husband is now. Guess owning a farm will do that to you! We have seven new runs. Still trying to figure out a coop for each one but in the meantime, the first one is done and I'm using my larger chicken tractor in it. We moved my Wheaten Marans out of the laying flock and back into their own domain. My roo Pierre thought he was hot stuff hanging out with his ladies, and only his ladies, again. We hope to finish the second one today because I have an order of Polish coming tomorrow for Colin! And they are gorgeous! We're getting a Chocolate Cuckoo boy, a frizzle Chocolate Cuckoo girl, a frizzle WC black girl, a smooth WC black girl, and a smooth WC blue girl. They are 3-5 months old. These are bantams. He has no idea! He has a calender on the wall, marking down the days until he gets his chicks (March 7th). He prays for his upcoming chicks every night. All his chicks are Standard size but we figure he can raise both sizes... just in separate coops. I hope to get them all settled while he's at school and then tell him to go look at the new run. I've almost told him so many times!

Hope those storms stay far away today! I asked Cole if he wanted to go to a chicken show this weekend. I do believe he's chickened out at the moment. Hope everyone going has a great time!
Your day is going to seem so long! Please take pictures! Meghan is 27 now and my favorite thing to do still is surprise her with stuff she may be expecting, but not at that time-we did it with her iPad at her birthday instead of Christmas. It is just sooo much fun to see the look on their faces. I am sure these are some beautiful chicks. Lou Ann and I are hoping to get started on our new area in the next couple of weeks. I am out of town next weekend and we are both gone one weekend a couple of weeks after that, but still hope to get it done, maybe by Easter. If we set a deadline, I think we will do better. I can't wait to have little ones around again,

Biltmore is beautiful. I have not gone to the winery because I love wine way too much and it hates me. We did go to the farm area, saw all the animals and took a few photos of chickens. We took the roof top tour for the house too. Bad decision for the end of Dec. It was 22 degrees that day and the wind was whipping. It was miserable being on the top of the house listening to this poor woman have to tell us all the neat stuff. Our ears almost fell off, it was so cold! LOL
I have actually been to their winery. It is built in the old dairy and very nice. You really have to watch that taste testing! I love going to the Biltmore and its green house/garden but I didn't know it had a farm area. I knew there was a stable. Wouldn't it be nice to have a house that took up 4 acres just in itself? My luck I would have to clean it myself....
The stable area is where the have the chickens, too. There was the cutest little four year old boy carrying a chicken around. They have chickens at home, and he was in heaven! His mom was having some chicken math issues looking at all the different ones there. I also loved the kitchen garden they have right beside the stables. Lou Ann and I want to do the Segway tour sometime. Once I have a season pass, I won't mind paying to do the extra things. I think the Segway would be fun, and I think the rooftop tour would be great- in the Spring or Fall!

OMG...we will have to figure a way to fix that...she tried so hard to used what he told he to be sure!!

And I am sorry to hear about your other peacock......
