CUTE CUTE CUTE!

Ok..I'm not doing so good keeping up on here! Just wanted to drop by and say hello to all my chicken friends! I need some advice too! So, I have some "test eggs" in my Brinsea incubator. They're mostly blue orpingtons and blue orp mixes and are all going to a friend because I do NOT need anymore chickens with a baby on the way. But for the life of me...I really don't remember when I set them :( I *think* it was July 5th...maybe?? Seriously I'm only 9 weeks pregnant and my absent mindedness is already kicking in. Any suggestions? I candled them today and think they look about 2 weeks along but it's really hard to tell. This is why I need to be more organized and write things down. I always write down set dates but didn't this time :( :( ughhh

Oh, I just take my eggs out of the turner if it is one of those plastic ones (their legs or heads get pinched in there when it turns) and lay them down and then just roll the eggs by hand until they start pipping. If I remember.
I am not pregnant and haven't been in a very, very, very long time but my memory is shot. I like my Sportsman because the chicks just hatch and ride the turner without getting hurt. They are either riding along or drop to the bottom and I collect them when I hear peeping or open the door and see one sitting there when I go to add water to the tray.

I used to move them over but the past few months have been crazy busy and the heat has affected my brain function even worse than usual.

And once the baby is born, throw everything else out the window. You wont remember anything anymore! LOL Oh, but such fun!

The d'Uccles Habitat is really looking good with the gourd vine covering it. Plus they love to hide under it during the sunny times of the day.

And on the emergency hatch of the d'Uccle's eggs All 5 that I threw in a bator at last minute HATCHED...one hatched 4 days after the others. I was about to turn the bator off(but I forgot to) and went to clean it out and BAM a baby chick that needed to cook a little longer.
I love your d'Uccle habitat! That is so neat about the vine growing there. You have such a green thumb. They look happy!

Great on the hatch. Now to find those cuties new homes. MF d'Úccles should sell well. If you still have them by the NC Chickenstock sale in Sept then they will probably sell there.

They are beautiful! Nikki has the prettiest Silkies! Those are so snowy white! How lovely!

Goat eyed bantam! Funny! She looks like she is deep in a trance.

She does, I'm proud to have some from her birds. And I don't know how long that will last, they already love messy food like tomatoes and watermelon

and yes, my little broody bantam has the strangest shaped pupils, she's had them since she hatched. And she's deep in a trance as long as you don't get within a foot of her box. She's a vicious little thing when it comes to protecting her nest. She thinks she's the biggest, baddest hen lol. Speaking of which, my SLW roo tried to come after me today. At first I ignored him, but he kept on coming. He's a big guy, but I was able to snatch him up and remind him that I'm bigger. He got the 'shame treatment', being paraded around the yard in front of his ladies held upside down, and when I put him down, he quickly ran into the brush in the corner of the pasture and hid

I truly believe chickens get embarrassed, and doing something to embarrass big, bad roos has always worked for me

I don't mind a mildly aggressive roo, I want him to protect his hens, but I won't tolerate them coming after me just to do it.

Oh RockerHen--I had a BlueJG that just hated me...I did all that I could to keep him. Shamed Him, Fed Treats to him by hand...Kicked him, Held him down...I tried everything for a year, but it just got worse. To the point I was fighting him with a rake(like a jedi) and he almost won, he got me a few times. So after a long battle I found someone who had a large farm. I think he is ok...I don't ask. SO good luck and at some point if he doesn't get better start trying to find him a home. Cause I have a new roo that is super nice to me...GoodLuck!

Lei Rob- blew the horn at you on Saturday. Took some friends to eat BBQ. It was closed. Looks like they are adding on. Ate at andy's instead. Saw the " great wall of buffalo" aka the start of your loooong coop.

Had a nice visit w/ rockerhen. Rocker hens dad was making fun of the silkie doos while sporting a similar hair style himself. Had to call him out on that one. Lol
Rocker, they love spaghetti (sauce and noodles) too.

Not quite ready to christen the new coop, but soooo close. Is it crazy tovwant to bathe wveryone b4 they go n the new coop? Posted pics on my fb page.

Love your run/trellis combo! Are you able to harvest gourds from this vine or do the chickens get them through the mesh? And is your yard fenced beyond this enclosure?
