South Carolina

Hi y'all. This thread has really gone quiet the last couple of weeks.

The Sweetwater Grange Poultry Show is coming up this weekend at Edgefield, SC.
Good opportunity to mix it up with other chicken people. Who's going?

I have the incubators going. Here are some pictures of the new chicks from the first hatch.

These are Buckeyes, Bresse, Bantam Chocolate Orpington, and Silkies !

I notice that you have two labs. Do they ever bother your chickens? I need a dog in our back yard to deter hawks when the chickens are out.

I am planning to be there, but won't be showing this time around. I only have one bird worth showing, and he has joined my breeding pen so he is not in show condition..

we were hoping to show our old English bantam pair but the rooster has taken ill, and with the weather, our little hen is just a mess.

I also think my year old ladies are starting to molt.
for SC folks I have several things posted on my daughter's fb page that may be of interest to the chicken folk

Can anyone tell me if folks have started bringing poultry 4 sale at the Jockey Lot yet? We've been talking about making a trip down that way but it wouldn't be good if the action hasn't really started up again yet.
