But it is LIVESTOCK. Not considered pets. So it wouldn't be like your dog bit them. Of course IDK what would happen ....... just thinking that should make a difference.

OK who put broody pills in the water?


I now have a broody OEG. I have no clue if there are even any eggs in the nest. Can't be anymore than 1 or 2. Sneaky lil hen.

Well, the first thing they did out of the car was ask to use the restroom. Made me a bit suspicious since they live local and called me right before leaving their house and got here within minutes so I was a bit peeved. I would not allow it. I do not have a public restroom here and my neighbor, the cop, said it was very bad to let strangers come into my house all the time.


That would put me on alert right there. Just read a story on WYFF yesterday about a man in Anderson who was stabbed and robbed by two guys who stopped at his yard sale and asked to use his bathroom. He took them in the house and they attacked him. These guys might have just been rude and stupid, but who knows? I'm really glad you didn't allow them in your house!

I have been on high alert since I had a few hens stolen 2 years ago out of my pens one night. It helps to have concerned neighbors and plenty of dogs around to alert us.

You can never be too careful with strangers coming to the farm. Yup, when he wanted to use the restroom I pointed to a big tractor and said go behind that. Don't care if I am rude. For gosh sakes, this is my home not a public park. I am sure most folks do not understand how many people come here each day. I can't let everyone in my home.

I am pretty much sold out anyhow. It is too hot to be outside chatting much, though I love showing off all my birds.

I think I have a Marans pair left I can sell, a blue copper roo and a blk copper hen but I am not pushing them.



OH! OH! OH!!!!!! Guess what showed up at my farm this morning!!!!!?????

It was too funny! I went out to let the birds out as usual and peeked behind the barn to see if Jolie was sleeping back there because she did not greet me this morning and that is where a roo lives that escaped the roo pen because they were beating him up. And last night they were beating the poo out of yet another one (freezer time!) so I dropped him over the fence to be friends with this dude (So cute! They snuggled right up to each other on the old TV antennae where he perches for the night. Yeah, my farm has trash!) where was I?? Oh, yeah, so I wanted to make sure they were still okay together back there even though they can free range but I feed the dude next the foundation back there and lo! There was something back there that was not any pattern I own in feathers! I said something to the roos and the guinea came out of the foliage into the back paddock. Big boy! And so nice looking. He has been around all day.
I took my friend back there when she came to pick up the ducklings and chicks I hatched for her this week and showed him to her because she gave me 5 dz Guinea eggs to set in my bator (so far 18 have been clear) and told her "Them eggs was sure fertile! Look at what hatched out already!" LOL She got a kick out of that!

Still no Jolie but I will look later when I feed everyone. Hope she didn't find another blooming hole in the fence, for pete's sake! But she usually comes out and barks when someone pulls up. Fine! I'll go check now!

Well my dog passed the therapy dog test! Yah!!!

And Anyone like ringneck doves? I tossed mine outside in an old squirrel cage. I had them for sale on here a few weeks back. And apparently the outdoors has made them uber happy. My female went and laid two eggs and I found daddy bird lying on them today when I went out there to give them water and food just now.

I did that with a Doberman and a Boston Terrible.

It was neat and I used to enjoy taking them to Nursing Homes.

Found Jolie sacked in the shade beside my BROODY blue Runner duck on the nest. I swear! If one more bird decides to nest out of the coop I will ring her neck!

They can go broody IN the coop and stay safe but poor Jolie is having a heck of a time keeping watch on everyone scattered out all over the farm.

The new bigger and better pen got finished today which meant my rooster got 4 new ladies to go with the 5 he already has. The new four wasted no time in settling down and getting to the important things like dust bathing. There were a few skirmishes and the funniest thing was the tiniest mutt hen body slammed the biggest buff orpington ( twice the size) and pinned her before big daddy roo got there to break it up. The new group and the old group are kind of staying in opposite corners right now with our roo keeping himself in the middle. We'll see how everyone is in the morning,

won't be long and it will be time to roost.


If all continues to go well, I can move the Mille Fleur d'uccles into now empty coop and run, making it the official bantam pen. That will give me room to put the new days old Millies in their spot in the large brooder. So I will have a total of 3 coops and runs! Man, it's a lot of rearranging but I think I should be good now for a while, I think, I hope... I mean, I'm not
planning on getting any more chickens..... Why would I want more than ( counting..) 36?

Then this afternoon, the DH - out of the blue!- mentioned that we should get an incubator and sell babies...

Oh wanted to add that I dusted or rather rolled my chickens in sevin dust. Seems to have cleared up those gross lice in a matter of a few hours. I think if they come back though I'm going to try frontline. It has got to be less toxic than the dust in their face! I tried to keep their heads and face out but one got sevin dust in their eye. Another was coughing. And now I break out with little red spots when I touch them because of the sevin dust!!!!

I'll try the new offbrand (same product) as frontline for cats if it's a problem in a week or two. Will just use a drop or so per bird. My husband said no more handling sevin dust. Lol. I'll still use it maybe to sprinkle in bedding but now I can't hold my chickens. So sad

I have two newly born chicks with leg problems. I did the baindaid thing but it's not working. One chick gets around better than the other. But the worst ones leg turns out and back. Seems to me like it's more than a sprattled leg problem. Any suggestions. I've been treating them for 3+ days now.....

good morning everyone
i think its time to get on the road i have to load cages and pick up my son. i need for someone to do the driving. it is a 2 hr drive to salley one way. i am hopeing to get back around 1 or 2 o.clock.
