South Carolina

Lou Ann and I made a trip to Huckleberry Farm last night and picked up two Ameracauna babies. What a beautiful place! Suzann was awesome and we both fell in love with her Silkies (and all the other chickens). Rainbow Egg Row is just too neat! The little ones settled in perfectly with the rest of our young flock and all were still happy this morning. The coop gets finished tomorrow, at least to the point they can move in it, so they are going to love having some extra space. I'll get some pictures up of the whole group soon.

Pictures! We need pictures! Lots of pretty babies deserve pictures!

Speaking of which......

I have this on a thread in Coops and Construction but thought I would show what I have done so far. Just need that door finished on the front.

So, fellow South Carolinians, a friend of mine found three baby ducks that some awful individual put in a cooler and left somewhere. I don't know what they are or how old, all I know is my friend said they were tiny! I agreed to go and pick them up as soon as I got off of work so they would have somewhere safe to stay - I am willing to meet someone and of course, I'm not asking for anything for the little loves - just a loving place to call home, and mine unfortunately can't be it

Please let me know if anyone is willing to love them, if anyone at all, I trust a fellow BYCer with their little selves!

I'm so glad they settled in and have a good home. My son got home from camp and said, "Where are the little Ameraucanas?" Oops! Off to a good home I assured him. It was lovely meeting you! I know you'll love having chickens!

Yay! Looks great! Trip to Charlotte is cancelled but cleve broke his tibia yesterday in California (brillany) so Uhm yeah, anyone want to take care of a 40 year old baby? He's flying home right now and we find out Monday if he needs surgery. I think I'm just gonna set his bed up in the coop and let the girls tend to him

Sorry if I missed it, but how old are they?

I think they are around 10 weeks the chickens. No idea on the pheasants. I don't know anything about the species. I've got a lot of learning to do. I think he told me but I had a lot to absorb when I saw all the pretty birds at his house.

thats right they were hatched after the last swap meet. and the pheasants are about eight weeks old. they are yellow gold pheasants

So the babies are tiny. Two of them are yellow with dark brown on their heads and back and the third is yellow with tan on it's head and back.
I'm not familiar with baby ducks, so I still can't give any more information than that, really. BUT they are adorable!

Quick Question?

So now I have an EE, one question for now...If a hen lays (x) color of eggs does she always lay the same color? Maybe this is a dumb question but I have no idea and still learning all about la chickens!!!
