i have a sportsman 1502 gqf

Yeah, I love my Sportsman 1202! I often for get to add water and will open it to see it registering 25%. Whoops. But I just add it and everything is fine. I don't do a dry hatch because so often I have duck eggs going with the chicken eggs. And I feel that ducks just have a tougher time with the membrane so I try to keep it fairly soft the entire incubation time since mama ducks bathe every time they get off the nest. Chickens could probably be fine with very little moisture during the first 18 days.

Off to the PO to pick up more eggs. Blue Ameraucanas again.

did you sell your others that you had?

myers sent me an email that they have the rainbow pullets , 25, day old pullets of all different egg colors breeds for 32.5 is that a good deal.. I hate that I lost so many girls this spring/summer ... that would over double what I have now.. I'm doing ok handling them my self without help and Im thinking I can do this.. but I'm not sure if it is a good way of doing it.. I don't have incubator like ya'll.. so I thought the day old chicks would be good?

PM me with the colors you are wanting, and then I'll decide what I am willing to part with. All of mine were born this year and are from show quality breeders. Beautiful...

Hi everyone,

My beekeeping work may just be starting to slow down.
clap.gif
I still have lots of honey to pull and extract but I can do that at my convenience. The bees will take good care of it until I am ready to extract it.

Does anyone need or want a silkie roo. I have 3 black ones that were hatched 1/13/11. I need to find good homes for 2 of them.
One is starting to pick on the the others so I have him in with my buff orps. He apparently does not know that silkies don't roost.
He gets up on a roost about 4 foot high.

He is the only one that does that. The others pile up in the floor.

I still have a few 10-16 week old blue and black orps for sale.

Amy, this is the white one that I got from you that you thought might not be full silkie.

I think it is going everywhere around us.....just not here. The farm has gotten a good rain both days.......and it is only about 15 miles from us!

Ok mt fellow SCers. I just want to vent for a few seconds if you don't mind. Right now I am like this

I put my roos on craigslist to find a good home. I understand that it probably will not happen and the will end up as dinner. I understand that. I was going to do it myself, so I am not that mad.

Here is what I am upset at.

The woman who came an got them also brought her 3 children. They were horrible. All they did was complain that they were getting roos and not hens. I have 2 bantam BR's and they began to cry because I would not give them one. I told them several times that my hens were not going anywhere and all they were getting were roos. Then as I was getting the roos for them, they locked me in the pen with the chickens. The mother let me out, but OMG!!!! I felt like

ing them.

Then they had the gall to go to the door of my house to look at my dog after several times asking them not to, and then opened the door!!!!

It even gets better (or worse). Once I caged the roos I was giving away, I let the others out so they could run around. And did they run. Because the little jerks started chasing them. I looked at the mother to see if she was going to say anything and she was smiling/laughing at them. I hollered at them and told them to stop chasing my chickens. Then she spoke up and said for them to stop.

I can't believe it. If my son acted that way, I would tear his .... well you get the picture.

If I would have had a way to do it, I would have met her somewhere with them and given this to her. But I could not do that so this is what I got.

Thank you all for offering chicks or chickens. I have not heard back from Jeff yet to know exactly what colors he wants in Silkies or Polish. He can only get on the internet while at work as he works at the state prison up in NC. I have asked him what colors and ages he wants but I don't think ages are a problem and I know they like all colors but may have preferences.

Okay, so since most folks are liking the Polish I went on BST and got 6+ LF Polish eggs. Not sure if they will hatch but I will give it a go and see what I get. I am not going to keep any but they will be available if they hatch out. All will be for sale though it looks like the colors will be cool. The roo is gold mottled and the hens look very light Mille Fleur or maybe they call it something else in that breed. But I liked the colors so I thought $13 shipped wasn't too bad.

Mary! The pullet (?) grew up very much like a Silkie!

I was so worried because it didn't quite look like what my others had on their heads. Although it looks just like Miss Muffet now so I believe it is from her! So cute!

Pink, nope, haven't sold any of my others. I am trying to grow up about 30 of them so I can have a decent laying and breeding flock. I have Ameraucanas now in lavender, blues and splits in both colors. Everyone is tagged so I know who came from whom and what I will be able to breed to what.

The rainbow deal sounds good. You should try it. You still may get a roo or 2 but that sounds like a good price for all those pullets and you could always sell a few if you didn't want that many.

Here is a photo of Bo. And there are a few on my website.
