Considering that I occasionally add apple cider vinegar to the chicken drinkers and they don't seem to mind, I doubt the vinegar solution would keep them away from your plants. I've fenced in my garden to keep the chickens out but ended up putting my 2 geese in there anyway. Then I had to go around the beds with wire to keep the geese out of the vegetables. They managed to reach in and eat a squash plant anyway.

Hey Amy - your car doesn't look as bad as I was thinking! Maybe it won't cost too much to get it fixed. Get an estimate from Rainbow Collision on Duncan-Reidville Road. My relatives have used them and they had very good prices. Did good work too.

Thanks, Joy. I am going to take it to my regular guy and see what he says but will be price hunting anyhow.
I can't stand it banged up like that. It may be dirty most of the time (we do, after all, live on a farm!) but I just can't stand to have a messed up body (no comments from the peanut gallery!) so it is sitting in the carport and I swear it sighed with relief to be back home.
Oh wait, that might have been me!

Ok, our poor wiener dog got bit by a copperhead this weekend. What is this? I have not seen a copperhead in the 5 years I have lived here and this summer we have killed 4, that includes the one that bit my setting hen. Our little dog got bit on the bridge of the nose and her whole face has swollen. She looks so sad! She is eating though. I hate snakes!

On a positive note, I have finished another pen/kennel set-up for my chickens. Now to figure out which one to put in it????? I is 10 feet by 16 feet. Hummmmm.....

Poor baby .... I've had 2 dogs bitten by copperheads and it is very painful. I took both to the vet, one girl had to have some surgery and the other girl just needed antibiotics and pain meds. Copperhead poison goes to the tissue instead of the bloodstream and it causes the tissue to die. My first dog had to have some dead tissue removed and stitches. Both were bitten on the face and the swelling was awful.

Im so proud of ,my young boy Midas.. who I got from Amy Nadine... he crowed today... 3 times.. and very nicely to boot... he also has tried to breed one of the EE girls.. Im gonna have to find some lf cochin girls for him..

Well, we found a new baby chick in the yard today and I have no idea where it came from. I guess I have someone sitting on eggs somewhere that hatched one and lost it. Poor baby found her way to the polish yard and those wonderful birds took care of her until I found her. She's safe in a brooder box inside now. Yesterday I moved some ducklings outside to a duck brooder because, well ... ducks are messy!

Anyway, then I couldn't sleep because I was worried about those ducklings. I got up in the middle of the night and went out to check on them. They were fine but I still couldn't sleep. I finally had a nightmare about a HUGE snake that I tried to kill by chopping it's head off and all these baby snakes just kept coming off of the big one. I couldn't kill them all, what a nightmare!! These snakes have freaked me out.

I'm going to have to quit coming here if the snake talk continues!

. Why are there so many this year? That would truly be the last straw for me. The hot weather is back!!

time to get the chores done.

I have Ameraucana, Marans (blue, black and wheaten), and silkie chicks for sale if you know of anyone that might need them.
