Now there is using your noggin! Putting one against the other to make a bigger pen! That looks really nice! And I like the hanging pen, too.

If I could get my broken one scooted over another 5 feet I may could do that for the Silkies as I don't want them to have to leave their shade tree. I don't have enough trees here. Maybe I could borrow some from Jackie!

Hey Jackie, load some of those trees up into that new car and bring me some! You have lots of shade, I hear! If you can get big ole' Midas in the mini then surely a few shade trees will fit!

Amy if you want to board some of your projects here under my large shady trees, you know you are more than welcome to

. I have a 10 x 30 dog pen just sitting empty until I can figure out how to turn my 700 lb coop to the opening in the run!!!

I love that name! So cute!!

I have a Midas...but he's 85 pounds and has a taste for chickens

Hey Jackie, I have a Georgia and Dixie who have a taste for chicken. A very strategically placed electric fence is changing their tastes!

Has he managed to win over Fancy?

That poor girl
lol.png

I haven't seen him breed her but they do sleep together all piled up inside the crate at night so I guess she thinks he is an okay kinda guy. I suppose it may take a few more days but she is coming under his spell.
You know the other girls thought he was pretty dreamy there at first so it can't be long before Fancy decides they are correct. Of course, I can't see he has much time for anything besides eating. He is forever with his face in the bucket and calling the girls. I guess now that is top roo (he's the only roo!) he is getting his fill of food!
Flash has been a funny boy but oh so sweet! He does follow me over to the crate when I go to collect eggs. I think he is trying to talk me into some cold watermelon. Could you imagine what his face would look like after eating some of that?
lol.png

I swear he has an appetite! Since he was second in command with the laying flock, he always got to eat after everyone else. He "stood guard" while the ladies and the head roo ate. No matter how I tried to entice him to eat while they were eating -even gave him his own food out of my hand or the scoop or in a bowl- he ignored his food until the ladies & mr head honcho had all finished. When he was in the breeding pen with my blues & blacks, he always let the ladies eat first. He would call them over, then let them eat.

I think he is just a pig now

Watermelon makes him pink!

I have done that

He liked the seeds.

ETA: He did that with the 3lb feeders and the 15lb one.

Yes I'm working on the hot wire situation in the backyard as we speak.

Wonder if I can teach him to spit the seeds?

But he has turned into such a piggie I guess he would just gobble them up.

I think he does eat after the girls, it is just his appetite is bigger than theirs. Or is it because I have different food? Did you feed him the Williams or another kind?

Did you see that Williams is now up to $11.50 a bag??? I can't handle it! I may go back to mixing my own. If I can find enough stuff at a reasonable price but everything has gone up so I doubt it. Thank goodness my meal worm farming is coming on strong. And I turned over the old feed bags from the brooders last night and this morning for a ton of delectable treats for the flock. They totally love that pile of .....uh.....natural food. I have to save on the feed bill somehow.
If I wasn't about to rent out my front pasture I would put in corn myself! I think 3 acres could feed the chickens through the winter. Of course, as soon as I planted we would go into a drought!

You wouldn't enable me last week! Scarlet is just sittin' on her laurels, being broody on air. Sigh...
