I would take the guineas but I'm getting 30 tomorrow that I ordered awhile ago. And they better come tomorrow since I'm leaving for Asheville in the afternoon and I'm pretty sure the post office will not want the guineas over the weekend!

Joy, So happy about your peachick! Yay!

OH JoyCats-Congrats on the Peachick!!!! Would love to see!!!! That is some much fun!!!

Oh and in my Worms in Chickens Search blah blah blah....I read a few things....if you juice some carrots and let them drink it, it will deworm them. Also the Apple Cider Vinger works great too(I do, do this) Garlic doesn't help with worms but helps the immune system greatly, and Crushed Pumpkin seeds will deworm but must be followed two hours later with something that will make them poop ALOT, like a watermelon. I just read this so I have NO idea but I do use the Apple Cider and the Big Coop/Small coop is negative on the worms...No idea how PumPum got them and kept them....But I am researching the poop out of this. I promise to one day understand ALL the chicken problems

problem is I have to research on my own chicks. Learn as you go I say!!!

Oh and as I type PumPum is in her crate beside me eating, two hours early she was so sad.

....Devotion to one chicken....WOW I am that person!!! but i love it!!

I've used it Amy, not sure if it works or not.

I have trouble trusting it as it doesn't give good directions for dosing. The instructions on my bottle say one squirt of Verm-x per bird!!!! Can you imagine? It doesn't stipulate size of drinker or anything. I've used it but I don't feel good about it. I wish they would dose it per drinker size and then I would be happier with it.

Moonchild, all my polish roost as high as they can get. A few with really big crests sleep on the ground but I think it is because they cannot see where the roost is located.

My polish roost and they can fly quite high if they want to. They're pretty lightweight birds. I have one silkie roo that will roost on a very low roost but most of my silkies sleep on the ground. I provide a house for them with a low step up to get inside and then low nest boxes. They will sleep up inside the house in front of the nest boxes (or in the nest boxes if they're crowded).

I just try to make sure they can get out of the weather because I don't want them on the wet ground.

The directions are on the website. It gives detailed instructions on how much per bird and how to dose it in a gal. of water. They probably had to add directions later as more people complained there wasn't anything to go by.

Some of my roos won't go in the coop until all the other birds are up on their roosts. Sometimes it is because they are the low chickens on the pecking order and have to wait or get beat up by the head roo, Adonis. And sometimes it is a hen that will smack them around, like Olive, who just doesn't like other roosters besides the head roo.
My chickens do go up much sooner than my ducks though. Those ducks will stay out drinking and partying well after dark if it is very warm outside.

I do have several roos that sleep outside because they have no place to go anymore. They have been shoved out of all the sleeping flocks so one sleeps in the trash pile, another sleeps on an old antennae behind the barn and one sleeps on top of the Muscovy coop next to the barn. I want to fatten them up but they run and play all day.

no matter how many you find homes for, for some reason 70 some odd keets seems to be your lucky number!

I really wish I only had 70 right now. That is only what is hatching in the bator, I have easily that again in the brooder. I did sell 20 today!

Stick some stamps on their butts and send them up here!

All I have is my lavenders left and the one buff Dundotte. I need more. I wish you weren't so far away.

You need MORE?!!!! You crazy.

I need more. Scarlet is not taking no for an answer to get out of the nest box. I think I need a couple guineas. My ticks and yellow jackets are absurd.
