This is my little paint flock. They are white with black spots. Not much is known about them yet so it's kind of a work in progress. I'm working with some breeders around the country to learn more about them. I've been waiting since December for them to start laying.

I think my egg production is up a bit but maybe today's heat will put an end to that. Heat index is going to be 110.

They are so very cute! I see what you mean about the 'spots'.
Speaking of the heat index, I need to go make rounds and check on water.

We're being told it might give us more than rain! I will have to turn the birds loose on our way out!

Now as far as those Silkie eggs--can't wait to see how you do! We need a source for future eggs!!!

Think positive thoughts. It's too early to be worried about Irene. Having grown up in louisiana, generally the closer it gets, the more people you invite to the house for a hurricane party

Wish I could make it but much too far for me to drive. There are many others that are closer and may be interested.

I will probably be going to the Oct 29th show up in Morganton and take anything I have left to sale.

Also, anyone interested in mixed breed LF hens for sale? I have a friend that has a pen of them and may want to sell them off instead of eating them. I have encouraged her to do so. Usually everyone wants LF laying hens. Roosters I eat, hens I sell.

Amy, where can I find more information about the Morganton show? I'd like to plan on going

Kimberly (Chickychickybaby) would probably know more about that than I would. I went in Feb to buy birds and support all of chickenkind but do not show so I can't really say. Maybe the website for the American Poultry Assc. would have it by now.

Neat! I am very new to showing. I took my jacks to theirs and my first show in March. They're better at racing and lure coursing. Hahaha. It doesn't help when their handler aka me is inexperienced.

And this is about the time I was starting to feel sick. And my male was standing nice, but for his tail. His tail was tucked! ARGH!

But they make up for showing with running...

OMG! How cute are they!!!!??? Always wanted jacks, especially the wire haired ones!
If you need any pointers (no dog pun intended) I can show you how we trained ours. I trained, clipped and mapped it all out. DH played, kissed on them, grabbed the leash and went into the ring and won. He did some training at home but we often had different ideas. But they won so we had to be doing something right.

Jackie, check under your hen to see if yours are hatching. Maybe the bator is a bit hotter but I noticed my keets hatched early last time, too.

Heidi, I have dundottes or something colored up like them. I will have to go look up the head markings from PeepsCA. She is a whiz with Guineas. So far 7 have hatched, 3 are the light colored ones. Not lavs, I know those now. The others look maybe like pied Pearls, but again, this is new to me and I have to look at photos.

Looks like it may rain on Sat. but lets hope not. I am trying to rig up the truck with a tarp to not only cover the birds on the ride up but to raise the tailgate end for shade while we are there.....or maybe drizzle. I hope it is perfect weather though!

Oh yeah, Debra is coming along with us in her truck and I will have a bunch of birds and ducks in it, too. I am taking all I can fit into cages.....when I make more cages......

You will love Debra, she is hoots of fun!

And did you see the stuff going into the raffle??? OMG! And I am donating one of my pretty roos or a pair of bantam Cochins. I asked Tricia to help me decide. I am not sure what will be likely to help ticket sales.

Bring lots of money for tickets. And there will be so many goodies for sale! So far it looks to be a huge turnout. I can't wait!
