Okay. Feeling better! I was alternating ibuprofen with vicodin yesterday so I WAS taking something. Just didn't always help enough. Finally healing though. It rained a bit this morning but now it's done. I was so jealous when I heard GSP had almost three inches of rain yesterday. We had .03.

I'm hoping we'll get some more throughout the day.

sorry don , nope your not done... I have a Barred Holland and plan on getting 25 more this spring..

they are on the critical list and I LOVE MINE..

better personality than even my BR which I think are great.. barred Hollands are white egg layers, they are just a tad smaller than my BR's, get alone with EVERYONE.. she lays everyday.

she thinks shes a dog and if I don't close the door in time she'll come on in the house.. the barring inst as dark as the BR.. more of a silver/grey bar instead of the black bar against the white. single comb..
she holds her tail just a bit different than the BR girls. this is Jett - barred Holland

this is Elsea Barred Rock tail difference and a bit darker.

so see your almost done with acquiring barred birds. hahah...

and you thought you had chicken math all figured out..

we had a really good storm here at 6:30 am and its been lightly raining ever since.. it should be a wonderful weekend for ya'll to relax at the farm this weekend.. or even the lake, just somewhere you will actually let yourself relax.. But I have a feeling that by Saturday you will be all "in the House" over it... especially with fall in the air..

have a great day and try not to do to much.. I know Gary will think oh all ok then go to bending over and the blood rush to his head and the pain would be back..

It rained and stormed with thunder and lightning for 8 solid hours last night!!! We probably got 2 or 3 inches here in Trenton. It woke me up around 1 or 2 AM because it was soo loud.

Ok, maybe it is a warm rain or something but most of my chickens are standing out there in the pouring down rain!!

I got a few of the silkies up but gave up on the rest and left them. Hopefully they will figure it out soon!

mine like to go out in the misty or sprinkling rain.. and then high tail it in when it rains hard. peaking out from under the tarp.. Im keeping everyone int he coop and hen yard today.. just in case another big storm comes.. I know its probably stupid but I hate the idea of loosing another one in a flood of water.. like before.. although they were younger and smaller. oh well...

I've got to get my broilers out of my coop this weekend.. they are so stinky..

the amount of poop from those guys is immense ..

wow.. but I guess when you eat that much poop is inevitable.. they are 3 weeks old so I think they'l be ok I will put a heat lamp out there for them? the run that they will go into is 3' wide and 6' long..covered.. I have two of them.side by side. one finished one not( missing the outside wire on long side. but I figure I can finish the other one if I need to. any other ideas to keep healthy broilers they go to the processor on Oct. 19th.. I have them on chick starter and was thinking of going to game bird starter next to keep the protein up.. the chick starter is 24% the game starter is 27%.. trying to get weight but not fat..sound right? . I have food in front of them 24 hrs a day.. I have read that some people limit their food to 12 with food 12 without .. anyone do that? my gosh if they go a hr with out food they think they're starving..
