Looks like the only answer is 2 traps...one out there for the cat and one on the porch for the skunk!!! LOLOL BTW...I plan on shooting the skunk IN the trap if I get it...bad idea?
It is only a bad idea if you do not like skunk smell or don't mind damaging the trap. Drowning would be my suggestion. Approach the trap holding up a blanket or something to hide yourself from the skunk. Approach from the front of the trap so the door blocks you from view. Cover the trap and move it to the barrel or large trough full of water. submerge trap fully for several minutes. Remove trap, open door, put on gloves and remove dead skunk. Dispose of skunk body at far away enimies house by mailbox. in a day or so, you will not want to drive by it.

Robert...Hilariously laughing as I think how intelligent this was 1. thought thru... 2. practiced!!! Anyhoo this is a smaller skunk than I actually DID shoot 3 feet off my porch 1 month ago so it may be it's child (I am not beyond kid killing when it comes to my fowl). That Mom or Dad (I did not inspect THAT closely) was shot 6 times by me and my semi-auto .22. On the 4th shot the tail came up and guess what came out? LOLOL...all I could do was fire off the last 2 bullets I had loaded as I closed my eyes and prayed the stench would not soak into me as I had to work the next few days...LOLOL WOW what a reeking smell around here and inside too for a few days...and yes I was presentable enought to go to work afer disposal and all...but as you suggested...hmmm I could have found a more devious place?!?!?!
