If I was a betting man and I am(once made it to 5th place in a LasVegas Texas Hold'em tournament) I would bet I have Two Roo and Two pullets in my baby d'Uccles.....But Hey we'll see!!!! I Very Sure One is a Roo and One is a Pullet, but two are riding the fence...
Finally got some new pictures of the girls last weekend. They were 20 weeks old on Monday. The first one is Cagney. I think she will give us our first egg. Her earlobes and wattles have grown the most of any of them. The other SLW, Lacey, isn't too far behind.
The Golden Girls are taking their time, but we love them anyway. At least you can really see their earlobes now.
Buffy thought she would pose for me (or else she was fascinated by her reflection in the lens)
We put their nestbox back in the coop. Cagney immediately checked it out. She tried to roost on top of it for a minute, but I made sure she couldn't get a foothold anymore. No more sleeping on the nestboxes (they are now lower than the roosts, too).
Free Range time!!
They were quite curious about their coop when looking in from the outside!

She still visits down there so she knows what it looks like. Her roots are here in SC! I am not sure she is quite that old though! Gold Griffin Chicken Mom, you were just a wee baby then, eh?
I love Charleston!
Let's just say... I remember getting off the school bus at the "new" house in early 1973. It was special because Grandma met me. We had been in the house for a few weeks when the Great Blizzard of 73 hit. Then the wall fell out of the livingroom! The pair of windows had a leak. The freezing was too much and the rotten wall fell out taking the windows with it. We had cardboard between us and EIGHTEEN inches of snow. That was the first time I remember making snowmen.
Oh, I graduated from Garrett High School while it was still a regular high school.
The first time I drove "home" and passed the sign on I-26 that said "North Charleston - Next 13 Interchanges", I squealed so loud I woke my baby. Small town my foot. Or other portion of my anatomy!
