Thank God! I can deal with the spoon better than the knife...

That is what I said until last year..... it is no fun feedin 100+ chickens in 15" of snow. LOL. Fewer chickens now though........one reason to be glad for predators

I do not want ice. Would hate to step in duck poop on top of ice.

Cute!!

Now what I would do

1 - either pin up or trim her crest. She is in a new place and can't see much with that crest so that may be part of why she is not moving.
2 - go ahead and remove the roost. Silkies prefer the ground. That may be why she is not moving ...
3 - Check her for mites and lice. Treat if needed.
4 - treat for worms if you dont know when she was treated last

ETA: I cant see her feet good but she is a cute white silkie

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I will set her down tonight and remove the roost (it's late so thats all for now...tomorrow night I will trim her crest! I have rubbed...petted... and ruffled her feathers and do not see evidence of mites/lice but maybe I will treat her to be sure...She did have a miserable amount of gunk stuck to her feet that I soaked and washed and clawed off last night...I just got her late Sunday and she seemed so stressed so I have been trying to mess with her as little as possible but when the work week starts for me on Mondays that is not a problem...LOL...what should I do for the mites/lice? lightly dust her with seven? and then I will have to get my DD to help with the wormer this week-end... Thanks so much! I love her and soon will be looking for a mate...LOL

A light dusting of sevin should be fine.

I rarely use it on my silkies. I use ivermectin pour on so I can put a drop on the crest. I would not dust the crest with sevin in case of getting it in the eyes.

Will probably take a couple of days for her to start relaxing a little. Any signs of cocci in her poop? Amy can help there........I can't.

Oh she's a beautiful fluff of snow! I love my white silkies! Bless her heart....she can't see a thing. She needs a hairbow.

I have no idea if it's a he or she - silkies are the hardest to tell.

Thanks for the compliment...I so fell in love with this one...I practically slept in the crate with her the first 2 nights (a pallet just outside the door!) I hope everyone knows what a "pallet" is in this instance...LOL! Sometimes growing up sleeping on pallets doesn't mean you're homeless...just that you have a home that is hot and your Mother makes a pallet for you to pile up on with your brothers next to the screen door to sleep on to catch a breeze...God! what memories! LOLOL... OK...weird...does resemble the chicks in the coop???

Poops very little bit a day but not too dry and definitely not runny or bloody (sorry for the explicit details but necessary!)...thats all I know about cocci...Amy? whats your opinion on all this? Wake up! LOL tomorrow will be fine lady!
