Do you remember the Doritos ad, "Crunch all you want, we'll make more"? We're on the way to see Amy at West Knoll Farms, as Greg suggested, to get a Pekin duck for our Pekin drake. Hopefully this will give new direction for some duck testosterone out in our back yard. Pretty sure this will result in more yellow balls of fluff. Time will tell.

We've got Ms Ann introduced to Andy and the rest of the clan. All signs point to our having start-to-finish homegrown balls of yellow fluff, so that will take care of that. She seems to feel right at home already, but still exploring. When I came in she was going from clover to whatever weeds she's finding in a daylily bed and back to clover.

I tell you what's fun about the poultry world.... meeting friends again!
We discovered that Frank's better half and I knew each other from years ago working in the same vet clinic! I run across the most people from my past, in the most pleasant ways!

Anybody having problems with mites this year. You better check. My big girls are covered. Odd that the 17 small ones in the grow pen have nothing. On them or in there house which is right next to the big girls. The only difference being I give the young ones ACV in there water all the time. I think I have new found respect for it. I will start giving it to the big girls from now on!!

OMG! I wish I had a camera. Went back to check on the young ones new haouse, to fine all mites now dead after spraying with sevn. But, one of the Brahmas caught a baby snake. Carried it all over and then eat it.

I hope it wasn't a copperhead or something. Looked a golden color. Hope it didn't get bite while carring it around and playing with it. lol

Do you have to wait for the Sevin to just dry before letting the chickens back in? I've never used liquid Sevin - almost bought some yesterday to drench fire ant hills.
