I tell you what's fun about the poultry world.... meeting friends again!
We discovered that Frank's better half and I knew each other from years ago working in the same vet clinic! I run across the most people from my past, in the most pleasant ways!

I love all the NEW friends I am making! Unfortunately my hubby seems to be the one to meet everyone...

Yea I did. Ortho Max Fire Ant Killer is THE BEST!! Use it all the time. The next day there all gone.

I've used Ortho in the yard, but the problem is the fire ants have moved into my lovely new raised beds and planters.

None of the standard fire ant treatments can be used on cropland or even fields for seed production. I ordered Spinosad, which is an approved organic pesticide and is supposedly working towards being approved for animal use.

Oh. I had one fire ant hill pop up next to my cucumbers when they were first coming up. I have a VERY bad reaction to fire ant bites. Maybe everybody does. But they make my whole area were they bite me swell up so much I cant put my watch on if they bite me in the wrist. But I used the Ortho Max. I just needed them gone. I figure with every kind of spray there is and you can still eat them, what ever. I'm all about chemicals to kill what needs to be killed. Tried organic, you can have it. LOL

U spray wig sevin? I dust with sevin but did not know there was a spray. Do you get it at tsc?
OMG! I wish I had a camera. Went back to check on the young ones new haouse, to fine all mites now dead after spraying with sevn. But, one of the Brahmas caught a baby snake. Carried it all over and then eat it. I hope it wasn't a copperhead or something. Looked a golden color. Hope it didn't get bite while carring it around and playing with it. lol

Had to share this picture of one of my Muscovy ducklings during swim time last night...
That is sooo cute! Is there any learning curve or do they just know what to do?

The seed crop warning put me off. That means whatever the poison is, it would persist in the next gen of plants. I save seeds, so that wasn't acceptable. I don't have a lot if faith in the organic stuff, but who knows? I'm applying DE now and it's stalled the growth of the hills.

Stalling is better than nothing.
