The people we got them from (cornbreadfred) Had them with their Mama for the first week. She may have taught them but they are fantastic swimmers! I love watching them!!!

Seems to me that they just know, and they enjoy it immensely. Always playing follow the leader, from eating to drinking to swimming, where one goes the others go right along with the idea.

It will take me a couple months to get the garden finished and a duck pen built. Do you provide supplemental heat in the winter to your ducks, or are they okay except on the coldest of days? I don't have a lot of location options that allow for power.
