Finally found the Great Pyrenees I was looking for! Everest is a rescue, approx. 8 years old  but in good health, and he completely ignores the chickens, even if he is in the pen with them. Hawks, beware!!  We'll take care of the old guy for the rest of his life. He's a great pet and is good with chickens. Can't beat that.

It's always nice to see people rescue, especially when looking for a specific breed. Congrats!

I can't figure out how to send a photo, but if you'll google Great Pyrenees you'll see what our Everest looks like. Big, white, and fluffy. He looks like a purebred, but we don't know for sure. He was a stray with no identification. Friends, if you adopt a Pyr please have him microchipped right away, but a collar with plenty of i.d. on it, and keep him inside a secure fence. These dogs tend to roam. The friend who rescued Everest tried and tried to find his owner, to no avail. He was matted and filthy and almost collapsed at her door. Now he is clean, healthy, and beautiful. Our hens are safe with him.

I have two fine Barred Rock cockerels who have their ticket to freezer camp this coming Saturday. But I usually eat them instead of selling them. The other 3 are just game mixes.
