I'm in Abbeville, SC. South of Anderson, west of Greenwood. Anyone close by? Looking for Silkie pullets right now and replenish my flock in the near future. Would also like to learn incubating. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Susan, I just found this thread. Bejammie got him from me, and her bird is directly from Paul. He was one of my extra cockerels. The splash and black I posted pics of on the AM thread are from that same groupPossibly Paul Smith from Texas? Can't wait to see a picture.![]()

Can't wait. I'm really looking forward to learning from you guys. I've raised chickens for 7 years, but these are my first breeder quality flock. Yesterday was the first time I've gotten 3 eggs in a day, so hopefully all 8 pullets will start laying soon. I hope to be incubating sometime in JanuaryGot it! Welcome to the ABC!

I'm so excited to fill it up. Don't tell the hubby, but I want to get back into Americaunas. I had blue wheatons years ago, and they were just so friendly and pretty. Egg production at my house has slowed way down, but I think that started because everyone decided to molt all at once. I've heard some people say that they give their birds oatmeal in the winter and their birds lay like crazy. Anyone got any experience with that? I really don't want to wait until spring to start hatching some chicks; patience is not one of my strong suits. I could build a brooder to put under our attached carport with one of those brooder radiant warmer things. Hubs would love that, haha.
