Hi, Yes I have blue wheaten, but I don't separate blue wheaten from wheaten, so my chicks and eggs are a mix of either. Here is one of my blue wheaten cockerels from this year - he won Reserve Best of Breed in Blackville, SC in December.

This picture was taken in October, so he was not quite finished here. I have a picture of him from the show, but it didn't turn out well.

Love the lacing on his breast. That's what I need to improve in my blues. That's why I'm focusing on the blues early. I want to see which rooster throws them better

Yes, he has very nice lacing. But, I can't use him this year, a friend of mine up in W Virginia wanted him, so he was sold and now lives with his own flock with Jeff & Sherry Vance.

However, I have his beautiful wheaten brother in a breeding pen with two Paul Smith blue wheaten hens.

Am I correct in my belief that the wheaton and blue wheaton hens look the same, but the roosters have either the black or blue chest? If that's the case, how would you know which hen is which for breeding purposes? Guess I should go ahead and ask too if you have any hatching eggs available for local pickup and the price, haha.

Well...almost.

Everywhere a wheaten - either cock or hen - is black, a blue wheaten will be blue. So, in the males, where you see the blue chest and fluff, etc - that will be black in a wheaten. In the females, the wheatens have the black on their wings and tail feathers that will be blue in a blue wheaten. Let me see if I have a decent picture...

I have a list of those who are interested in eggs or chicks and would be happy to add you to it. I just need your email address and whether you want chicks or eggs and how many. When I start setting eggs, I'll email you and payment will be due then. I'm not hatching anything yet, my girls are not laying full time yet and I don't do the supplement lighting. Especially with the wheaten/blue wheatens, I do a test hatch before I make anything available for sale. I usually set the first "test" hatch around mid-February and will start selling eggs and chicks in early March.

Prices are $8/ea for chicks and $35/doz for eggs. My NPIP # is 56-499 and Sand Castles Farm is also AI clean.
