Oh My Gosh KIMBERLY!!! Why in the world did you count??? LOL That can only lead to trouble. My standard answer is "ummmm.....I'm blond and I can't count that high". Besides, I have that many chickens in just one yard - no way I'm countin my birds! Things like that can only lead to trouble

I would so steal your line IF I was blonde! Of course I have tried the "Old Timer's Disease" claim...

...but that did not work.

The most I have of any one breed is my Silkies. Even if something ever happened and some had to go to the farm, the silkies would stay here.

I want to shout out a BIG thank you to Kimberly's wonderful daughter, Nicole!

We accomplished so much yesterday and I am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Well, at least THIS tunnel. You know another one is around the bend!

It was like having another me to help. Nicole knows all the things to get done and went right to it. We finished my pen for my orange/gray coop and all I have to add to day is birds...permanently!

Next week we will be on to tons of other things and in the meantime if I am not around Nicole knows what needs done and does it! It is so awesome.

Yo, Yancy!
They look so big outside!

They are adorable and I know they can't wait to get big enough to stay outside. The ones still here are going to move down to the water tank brooder today. They need the leg and head room!

I will definitely point her to this post when she rolls out of the bed! She was tired by the time we got home at midnight! We went to her grandpa's so I could do what I needed to do and she talked him to death about her day. Then to my sister's to pick up her and her two daughters to visit this weekend.

Nicole loved helping you. She said it is stuff she has been doing all her life...and things she likes doing!

Neither of us can figure out how you put wire up & build by yourself.

I told her if you needed her more after this semester is over to be sure to let you know that she was available more than one day a week. She won't be doing summer classes this year. Last year she did fall, spring & summer...her grandpa did not like her doing that
lol.png

She was talking to one of her friends on facebook..... and posted this "A place called West Knoll farm. Its a little piece from my house, one day a week because of school. Its work I love doing (outside with animals) and the lady I'm working for is a lot of fun.

"

Of course my thing is - does not matter how much fun you have young lady - WORK! And if you need to do stuff other than outside do it.

And it is not that far. I love the drive. Of course, I have to drive since she doesn't....

Now I have to go check water on my chickens & dogs, and do some laundry since my help is in the bed

Love the sign!!!!!!!!

Well, that stinks. If it's new, it really stinks! I have two RCom King Suro 20 incubators and they're great. Haven't had any problems at all. I'm so sorry! I might be able to help you out with some chicks in a few weeks if you're interested.

I'm pretty sure I'm hatching WAYYYYYY too many!

huckleberryfarm, if you end up wit WAYYYYY to many silkies, please let me know. Thanks, Nikki

Will do! Are you looking for any color in particular? Once (if!) my breeding pens ever get finished, I'll have hatching eggs. I just need to get the silkies by themselves!

Hi Peeps from South Carolina and where ever.... I HAD a very mean rooster last year, a beautiful Black Australorpe. He hated me big time. He would come at you without any warning. Here is a story that will give you a laugh for today. I raised this rooster and he was the sweetest thing, I could hold him pet him and he would come to me UNTIL I gave him some hens. He never bother me even with the hens, I had another RR rooster with some hen, that was in the pen next to him and his hens. As time went on he started changing. I noticed when I would go into pen with him and his hens he would come toward me. One day I was coming back out of his pen and that was the first time he caught me off guard. He got me on the leg, I was in such shock I didn't know what to do, never expected him to do that. Well there was a lot of excitement at that moment woke up the whole neighbor hood with my screaming,

ALL the chickens then got in on every thing. Well time went on and he caught me again about the same way but a little worse. I said if he did it a third time he would be gone. I had put him in a pen by himself by that time, because I was afraid he would attack my grandkids. I even had to go in where he was with a big stick.
barnie.gif
He would attack the stick, well that was about all I could take. Then one day I went out to chicken house and there he was on the outside of the other roosters fence pacing back and forth, Me with my stick I tried to get him in his pen, well guess what, he attack me and the stick, that did it!!! I went strait in the house and got the gun. Believe me I am no KILLER!!!. I took aim and hit him under the wing just barely got him I guess because he wondered off. All the time I was thinking he would go off and die in the woods at that moment I didn't care. Well a few days later, I hadn't seen no signs of him I thought he was gone for good, even told my neighbor if he saw him to finish my job. But a week past and still no signs. One day I heard my little dog barking and went to check thinking he had a snake. I picked up my stick again moved the bushes and GUESS who come staggering out..................Big Man..............He was still able to walk but not too fast. Scared the POOP out of me!!!!
ep.gif

I went back in house to get gun, came back and he was walking toward horses in the pasture, that was the last I saw of him for two more weeks. I was checking on my bees in the side yard and guess who I found deader than a door nob. I think that chicken came back to haunt me till he died...............NO More Black chickens for me!!!:

Sorry, Suzanne, Nicole is mine! LOL I expect she and I will get so much done this spring. We had the best time chatting and finishing the dog kennel pen and I now have one bantam Cochin roo and 10 pullets (Cochins and Frizzles) out there.
They aren't there to breed but rather to finish growing up, except for the roo. Wizard is just an extra roo that DH won't let me get rid of and he is kind to his ladies so I put the pullets with him. Gotta decide if I want to keep any of the Cochin pullets. Some can probably be sold with a roo at some point but I won't waste my pullets, if I can help it. I have lots of extra Frizzle or Sizzle roos that can be paired with them.

And this weather will not get better until April. March is going to come in like a lamb, I think, so that means it will go out like a lion. We'll have to see what Monday night and Tuesday morning are like to know for sure.

I had a bit of ice on the waterers too but the worst is the wind! I despise it but understand I have to live with it!
