I liked the girl that was doing the chicks!
She helped me each time I have been in there. Last week, she said her next order wouldn't be in until the 23rd of March. Wonder if that will change now.
A friend of ours & someone else had asked about barred rocks - she was considering ordering some & I was gonna check with her this week.
I don't think the lady that runs the place knows anything about them either. Of course I do not know for certain that it was her, but when I grabbed those 4 EEs last week (sold as Ameraucanas) the chicky gal told the other one what to ring up, and the lady said "We have Ameraucanas?". I assumed the way she was talking that she should know.
Guess What, Guess What!!!!! I am getting 6 speckled sussex chicks! WooHoo, see what a little begging can get a person.
And the best thing is I am trading for them. I love to barter. Mark another one off of my wish list. That list is still plenty long.
A question for you guys - any of you that raise/keep Coturnix Quail. Are your quail laying right now? My quail aren't laying well at all and last year they layed straight thru winter so not sure what's going on. I have some young ones that hatched in the fall and should be laying, so it's not that my birds are old. Just wondering if anyone else was having this same problem.

We have a few. None laying yet. They are several months old and have never laid any eggs.
I read somewhere that they would not lay until 12-14 hours of daylight. But IDK.

on the sussex. I have 3 from the hay rack
Ok, that's what I was thinking too. I guess I just lucked out last year. I had quail eggs all winter, plenty of them. Hmmmm.......guess I'll just keep waiting on spring to get here.
