Well, I suppose he feels safe enough to come out of his shell with Hannah gone!

Pray tell, what did you do with Hannah...gave away or did the deed yourself?

You are a true artist to recognize all the notes that roo could hit!

I know some are pretty and some are croaky but I have never noticed how many notes are reached.

foxygoober, start driving the roads. You will see people are starting to clean up yards and garages with the warmer weather and throwing stuff to the curb. You will find an abundance of materials from other's trash.

Amy- On Saturday (National Poultry Day), he joined a new flock with about 80 hens to love on, rather than just my 10 girls. Apparently he needs, a uh, a larger selection. Little George is so cute, he's going to visit Furman University with me next Friday for a student forum on raising chickens. Better be on his best behavior- cock-a-doodle-do!

PS- If anyone is looking for turkeys to raise, Patientwait Farms in Piedmont has started hatching out for Thanksgiving. They have Jersey Buffs & Narragasetts poults for $9 a piece. www.patientwaitfarms.com

I have a flat tire and have been waiting all morning for my husband to address. He's finally off the phone so maybe now. I'm dying to get out to the farm!

Our website is now officially launched! I'm happy! www.huckfarm.com

Here's one of my new lavender ameraucanas. Ended up with 7 lavs and 8 splits. But I have more hatching next week.

For anyone interested....I have a pair of bantam Cochins on the BST list. They are of the Mille Fleur persuasion. LOL They are project birds but I get a lot of good chicks out of these crosses. It will take us years to get balance and color right on these guys but it is worth the time and effort.

And Jackie, I am glad to hear Hannah got what he wanted. Girls, girls and more girls!

Have fun at the Furman get together.

I am out and about enjoying the weather all right. Chores in weather like this is about as difficult as snow. I just don't have to wear as many clothes. I still run in and out of the house while doing things. I actually breathe better in cold weather. My lungs squeeze shut in this pollen filled warm air. Good old emphysema! Wish I had never picked up a cigarette.

All our chicks are in that not-so-cute stage. Some are almost able to fly out of the boxes. Then we have these itty bitty black ones that have the tinniest wings!

Hubby said he might get me a surprise at TSC. That would be more silkies. I should have told him to pick up a few more meat birds. It's kind of silly of me to love a type that isn't so useful!!

I'm actually thinking of getting some eggs to incubate, but finances are tight. Has anyone had luck with incubating turkey eggs? I don't even think I've seen any listed. If all goes well with our current turkeys I think I might try those. Those guys are getting big fast!

Silkies are very useful! They provide endless hours of snuggling, joy and companionship. I could spend hours just watching them..... okay.... you're right.... probably not so useful! But they make me so happy!!!!
