I'm glad you don't hatch as many as I do either! It is mind numbing work to do day after day of cleaning and trying to keep up with all the watering.
Though right now I am hatching for a friend so that I won't be tempted to hatch my own.
I have some of mine hatching now. Another 22 BLRW hatched this week, 5 little MF d'Uccles that I got from Joy
, a few EEs and of course, my Mille Fleur Cochin project chicks hatched.
But thank goodness most all the eggs in the 'bators (I have 3 running) are not mine.
I AM anxiously awaiting for the dark Brahma eggs to hatch. I have some pips so I have my fingers crossed I get some of those. It is been crazy trying to get some of that breed! DH wants me to keep a roo and plenty of hens of that breed. I suppose I will. Goodness knows the hatcheries can't seem to keep any or get any and breeders seem to have very few eggs to sell.
I am fazing out the EE breeding pen and plan to get 2 Ameraucana pens going next winter. Blues are such a huge hit that I plan to have a pen of them and a pen of project lavenders. I, myself, am not a blue bird lover but I seem to keep getting into blues because everyone wants to buy the few I have in whatever breed. I go where the customers take me and just try to make sure they are quality. That isn't easy on this scale or else I am worse at animal husbandry than I thought.
We had a huge down pour here yesterday afternoon and my ducklings were out in their pens. I was so worried they would be scared or hurt but everyone looked fine. DD said I should not worry since they like water but it was the heavy downpour that worried me. I had shelter over them but they are such babies to me. Here is a photo from yesterday morning. They have a wire cage for grass and I have the bottom of a Guinea Pig cage for their pool to play in. They come inside the brooder room every night.
