OK a 24hr UPDATE...Well the Chick is doing great!!! She's walking and even running with the others
yippiechickie.gif
She is about 70% better so 30% more to go
fl.gif
and I'm so Happy!!! And I found out you can buy capsules of selenium and add it to their food. But the injection works alot faster! SO if she gets 100% better then remember to help the chicks with the Wonky Leg!!!!

Where can you buy the capsules of selenium from? I think I may have a chick that has the same problem...I work at an animal hospital so I'm going to check and see if we have the injectable first.

well the mystery surounding my recent losses has been seen, shot at, but not confermed dead...

found what was left of meeBeep.. eaten.. I think he probably drown first though he was so lightweight and the rain made rivers out of our back yard. ...

well today colt was out and cam running in.. saw a fox in the pasture..
ep.gif
so he and the gun go outside.. a couple mins. later Im sitting onthe couch and see the dang thing running thru my garden and chickens flying everywhere... Morgan and I go flying out the door with the dogs.. it almost had my fav EE Sookie..
somad.gif
when morgan and Boo jump the fence and run off the darn thing.. went around doing a head count and finding the bittys.. found everyone but ... my new Little red EE hen I got from Amy was a casualty..
hit.gif

so now were staking out the yard and pasture. Im sitting under a tree watching and waiting.. Colt got hot and went in.. I had almost started to go in.. when I spot him coming from the little pond. knock on the glass door and Colt comes flying out the back takes am and shoots with 20g shotgun. I could have swarn he dropped before he got up and ran.. so colt bolts over the fence and runs across the pasture. into the woods and just about had him . he had fallen in the gully and was resting.. when The phone in Colts pocket rings.. .. almost could have had him.. but he jumped up and ran into the next door neighbors pasture which colt cant follow on..
so there was no blood trail so were not sure if he really got hit or if he was just stuned.. ??? its a Ratty looking fox with no hair.. must have mange or something.. and scronny so hes hungry.. Im sure it is what killed all my girls and pulled feathers out thew the chain link run...
somad.gif

I hate to do it. but I think were gonna use little Reds body as bait to see if he comes back.. and that way Colt can be ready for it and hes a great shot sure he wont miss. especialy with the 30/30...

Yay! Glad to hear that pullet is doing better. I just ordered colodial (sp) silver to help out with immune booster.

Colloidal Silver can be a very good additive to daily regimen. However, there is a good kind and a not so useful kind and I haven't researched it enough to know which to buy so I haven't invested in it. I just can't remember enough about what I read years ago to feel confident in what I should buy. I need to do that.
Please let us know how yours do on it, Jackie! I totally believe it is beneficial!

Amy, what kind of supplements/vitamins do you use?

Thankfully I have lots of shade. I have a few breeding runs that are in full sun for a couple of hours right in the middle of the day so I've hung shade cloth up over one end. They were using the shade before I was done with the plastic zip ties.

The trees take care of them the rest of the day but it's cooler outside under the shade cloth than it is inside the coops. You might consider misters, some of my chickens will actually stand in the water to cool off.

Well, the hawk came my way and just got one of the baby ducklings!
barnie.gif

Kimberly, Nicole and I were standing down at the barn talking when we heard a commotion up at the back of my house and a hawk flew out with Jolie running behind. We went to check what happened and the Cayuga is missing a duckling.

It was huge and red, not like most hawks around here that I see.
And I have called and called for the Guinea but he hasn't come. I am pretty sure I heard him down in the woods but he hasn't come up. With this many birds it is hard to hear anything further than 20 feet away!

I used Colloidal Silver with my canaries and never found it to be very helpful.
